The Body-Solid SPR1000 is a commercial-class power rack: per the maker, a 3 x 3 inch, 11-gauge steel mainframe with two J-cup liftoffs, two premium safety spotter bars and an integrated chinning bar. Its data sheet lists a 1000lb (about 454kg) weight capacity. It costs around £1,097 (checked Oct 2026). The site does not test products.
This review is based on Body-Solid's product page, data sheet and owner's manual only. It reasons from the published specification and says plainly where the maker leaves a figure out.
What the maker says it is
Body-Solid's page describes the SPR1000 as a power rack for commercial application with a total-body exercise focus. It lists "over 15 options and attachments", expansions for weight storage and rear spotter access, and a connecting bar or monkey bars to bolt two racks together. The data sheet's headline features are the mainframe construction, 1 inch hole spacing with laser-cut numbers on the uprights, and the two included J-cup liftoffs and safety spotter bars. The page says its 90 inch height suits chin-ups, standing shoulder presses and other exercises that shorter racks often limit; that is the maker's description, not a measured result.

The maker lists two different weights and slightly different heights (89 and 90 inch) without explaining why, so treat the dimensions as approximate and measure the room with some allowance.
What weight capacity does the Body-Solid SPR1000 have?
Body-Solid's product data sheet lists a weight capacity of 1000lb, about 454kg. The product page does not give separate figures for the J-cups, safeties or chinning bar, so treat only the overall 1000lb as stated. The data sheet also does not say how the figure was derived or whether it applies to every component at once.
The 1000lb figure is far above what most home lifters would load, but whether any load is suitable for you is a question for a qualified coach or fitness professional, and the maker's manual is the authority on safe use.
What is included with the SPR1000?
Body-Solid lists two J-cup liftoffs, two premium safety spotter bars and an integrated chinning bar. Dip handles, a monolift, extra J-cups, a rear extension, band pegs, a storage tray and other attachments are listed as optional, and the page names more than 15 of them. The manual's parts list names four uprights, two base frames, two side top frames, one rear top frame, one chin-up bar, a foot plate, eight steel plates and two 75mm plastic end caps, with M16 hardware: 16 bolts of 105mm, 16 bolts of 110mm, 64 flat washers and 32 nylon lock nuts.
How big is the Body-Solid SPR1000?
The maker's page table lists 2057mm long, 1340mm wide and 2267mm high; its data sheet lists 81 x 53 x 89 inch. In metric that is roughly 2.06m x 1.34m with a height of about 2.27m. Reasoning from those numbers, the footprint is much larger than a compact cage; the GYM MASTER cage is listed at 121.5 x 121.5cm. Add room around the frame for a bar and bench. The manual advises placing the unit on a solid, level surface a few feet from walls or furniture.
Who the specification suits
Reasoning from the numbers, this is a rack for a dedicated room or garage with ceiling height above about 2.27m, a budget above the entry level, and a wish for a commercial frame with room to add attachments. Its optional rear extension and connector bars suit someone who expects to expand the set-up; each is a separate product with its own cost.
Who should skip the SPR1000?
Skip it if the room is lower than about 2.27m, if the floor cannot take fixings and the maker's anchoring advice cannot be followed, or if the parts must be carried up stairs, since the page lists an assembled weight of 282lb or 350lb and the manual lists a long set of parts to bolt together. It may also be more rack than a household needs: the maker positions it for commercial use, and the best power rack comparison shows cheaper cages and a half rack. Renters should read home gym equipment for renters first.
Does the SPR1000 need to be anchored to the floor?
Body-Solid's manual says to securely anchor the machine to the floor using the anchor holes provided and to consult a professional contractor about the actual anchoring. The product page adds that the optional jammer arms require the SPR1000 to be bolted to the floor. For surface options under a heavy frame see flooring for heavy weights.
What to check before buying
- Assembly: the manual says to obtain assistance if you cannot assemble the rack alone, to follow the steps in sequence and to leave bolts finger-tight until told to tighten. The tools list begins with standard and metric wrench sets and an adjustable wrench.
- Warranty: the data sheet shows two warranty columns, both with a lifetime on frame and welds; bushings and hardware read 3 years in one and lifetime in the other, and pads, rollers and grips 1 year or lifetime. The sheet does not label which column applies to home use, so confirm with the seller. The manual says using non-Body-Solid replacement parts will void the warranty.
- UK availability and delivery: the maker's page is Body-Solid's US store and shows US dollar pricing. Check the UK retailer's stock, delivery terms and who supplies spare parts.
- Returns: GOV.UK's guidance for sellers says a business must offer a full refund if an item is faulty, not as described or does not do what it is supposed to, and must offer a refund if a customer cancels an online order within 14 days of receiving it. Read that page and the seller's own terms, since returning a rack means disassembly.
- Safety notes in the manual: check the unit and its fasteners before each use, keep children off and away from the equipment, do not use it outdoors or near water, and do not use attachments the manufacturer does not recommend.
- Health: the manual advises a physical examination from a physician before beginning any fitness programme.
What the specification implies, and what it does not
The listed numbers describe the frame and its attachments, not how it will behave in your room. A 3 x 3 inch, 11-gauge frame is the maker's stated construction, but the page does not publish tube wall thickness in millimetres, a stability test or a third-party certificate. The manual's installation requirements, a solid, flat surface and ample space around the machine, are the maker's own conditions for set-up. Whether a particular garage floor or upstairs room is suitable is a question for the floor's owner or a qualified professional.
The rack's expansion options also change the footprint. A rear extension and spotter platforms are listed as optional, and the page notes that jammer arms must be bolted to the floor. If you plan to add them, re-measure with the extras included and check the listed price of each.

How much does the SPR1000 cost in the UK?
